Interesting, what the reaction of James Bond fans will be when they see Pierce Brosnan replaced. Btw it is reported he is being paid far less than his predecessor Pierce Brosnan.

i first noticed daniel craig in the very good english ganster flick "layer cake." sadly, i'm not that enthusiastic about his bond (and it seems neither is he). sean connery all the way!

I have been a long standing fan of the James Bond movies and I have seen them all in English and in Spanish (thanks to my Grandmother). My favourite Bond will always be Timothy Dalton followed by Pierce Brosnan but as it has always been Bonds face is everchanging. Anyone remember that guy that did the one Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service? He didn't even look the part, the cover of that movie mad ehim look Asian. Althouh Brosnan decided to walk away from the Bond movies I am actually kind of excited about this new one. The trailor showed alot of action which is what I look for in the movies and I wish the best of luck to Daniel Craig as his role of Bond. Ofcourse there is going to be some doubt from Bond fans but hey, The Bond people haven't let us down yet. Although I don't think they should have gotten rid of Jon Clease. (sp?) They should have kept him.

He'll be great! There's one thing about him that reminds me of Sean Connery's portrayal of Bond...he doesn't act afraid of messing up his suit (or, as Brosnan always adjusted his tie during action scenes).

alex, the actor you are thinking of is george lazenby. he played bond once in on her majesty's secret service. other actors that have played bond include david niven, peter sellers and woody allen -- all of them in the 1967 version of casino royale.

if i couldn't have sean connery as bond my vote was for clive owen to replace brosnan. however, i am going to see the new casino royale for sure and i will give daniel craig a chance. i hope he can pull it off.

It's always dangerous for any actor to take on a role with so many preconceptions in the audience's mind. And even Connery found it hard to escape Bond's shadow for many years. I respect Craig's efforts to make Bond his own and trust his acting abilities to give us a credible interpretation. He is right that Bond needs to exist outside of current affairs which can render the film less viewable over time or make Bond seem less heroic in retrospect. His villains have to be villainous and not just someone with a different worldview. That form of subtlety belongs to John LeCarre.

And the rough and tumble look on the billboards portends a welcome change from the overly-fussy industrial espionage the series had lapsed into of late.

I look forward to Craig's Bond. However, I do not look forward to this film at all. Barbara "put as much product placement as possible" Broccli has destroyed the franchise.

Bond is best when he is out of time. Kind of. Honestly, he only truly worked for me in the Cold War. You want to reboot the franchise? I have no problem with that. But go back in time. Put Bond where he belongs. And yes, Icebreaker would have been a great start.

Hi all, I can remember stealing down the stairs after my bed time to sit near the bottom to watch Sean Connery in Gold Finger. Hearing his english accent and seeing his black hair for the first time. This is the impression that I will always have of James Bond 007. The others Roger Moore...etc, could not compete. Ok now there is a blond guy that they want to sell as 007. Won't go and see or rent the movie. Sorry James Bond should have black hair. bye
